HOWBECK LODGE is a
working farm situated at the
foot of the fells on the outskirts of Hesket Newmarket village at the back of the Skiddaw
range.
The bedrooms are all tastefully furnished with individual washbasins and tea/coffee making
facilities. Guests can relax in a Victorian bath and bathroom. The cosy residents' lounge is a
welcoming place to unwind with inglenook fireplace, log burning stove and colour TV.

HOME COOKING
Traditional English breakfast is served in the dining room. Packed lunches are available on
request and evening meals are freshly prepared from local produce. Children are welcome.

IDEAL BASE FOR THE LAKE
DISTRICT
It is ideally situated for touring the Lake District and the Scottish Borders, and offers an ideal
base for fellwalkers. Less active visitors can relax and enjoy the unrivalled scenery or tour the
many interesting fellside villages.
PLACES OF INTEREST
Busier Lakeland towns are also easily accessible and include: Keswick, Cockermouth
(Wordsworth's birthplace), Penrith and Carlisle. Some other places of interest are Hadrian's
Wall, Tullie House Museum, Carlise Castle, Hutton in the Forest and Lowther Park. Local
agricultural shows may be visited throughout the summer.

HESKET NEWMARKET
Hesket Newmarket is an area of outstanding natural beauty and the village remains unspoilt
with a traditional village green, duckpond, picturesque cottages and the original market cross.
Sheep farming still dominates the landscape and the history of the village and neighbouring
Caldbeck (John Peel's birthplace) are featured in the local mining museum.
